WHO WE ARE
Sightline Institute (formerly Northwest Environment Watch) is a not-for-profit research and communication center --a think tank--based in Seattle. Sightline's mission is to bring about sustainability--a healthy, lasting prosperity grounded in place. Nonpartisan and wholly independent, Sightline's only ideology is commitment to the shared values of strong communities, fair markets, and responsible stewardship. Our focus is Cascadia, or the Pacific Northwest.

WHAT WE DO
Measure what matters: Launched in 2004, Sightline's Cascadia Scorecard project monitors the region's progress on seven key regional trends, including human energy and climate, health, sprawl, pollution, wildlife, economy, and population. We update the Scorecard in an annual book, in reports on critical issues, such as pollution in people, and on our "wonktastic" blog.

Champion the best solutions: We identify and promote the most important long-term solutions for the region, such as development that leads to stronger, safer communities; a more equitable tax system; and market-driven policy changes that reward consumers for sustainable choices.

Maps and other tools for a better Northwest: Are you concerned about the future of your community? Then we probably have a tool for you--from data to maps and other graphics to our news service that updates you on the top regional news every day by 8am.
